Where IE languages are spoken today.
Imagine a gathering, a family reunion of speakers of the modern Indo-European languages. As language families gather to their various picnic tables under a huge oak tree, we English speakers circulate among the arrivals and ask how relatives are doing. We are fascinated to find out how our language sisters and cousins are dealing with the exigencies of expression. We are intrigued by the words they use and are delighted to compare their words and grammar with English. To think we all once spoke the same language.
Each new post will present a brief description and give examples of one of the grammatical features of the modern Indo-European langauges (mIE). Click on underlined words for definitions.
Please leave comments about anything Indo-European. Welcome to the reunion!
